On January 13th, 2021, we had our first core group meeting.  22 people attended in person and via zoom.  Susan and Angelo Deniakos graciously opened their home to host those able to attend in-person.  We are very thankful for their hospitality!  Pastor Mark joined the group via zoom from San Jose, CA, and several others joined via zoom.

We began with a devotional from Genesis 12:1-3.  It emphasized our commision over comfort (verse 1), being a blessing to those around us (verse 2), and faith over fear as obey our commission (verse 3).  We were reminded that Jesus Himself left His Father's home to come to a strange land that rejected Him.  He blessed us by dying for us so that we could share in His inheritance.

After the devotional, we had an extended time of questions and answers.  During this time, several people shared ways they are already seeking to be a blessing and witness in this world in which we are strangers.  What a great encrouagement to the rest of us!  As a body, we want to encourage and empower each other to use our gifts and skills the Lord has given each of us for His sake!

We concluded with a time of prayer together.  This is one of the most important aspects of our meetings.  Apart from seeking the Lord, none of our efforts matter.

We hope you will join us for the next meeting, which will be Thursday, January 28th at 6:30 PM.  Please email us if you'd like more information.  God be with you.
